Originating in Italy, where they are known as Bomboniere, the Italians use delicate tulles and fine boxes to hold 5 sugared almonds. These five sugared almonds all have a specific meaning - Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility.
If you cannot use the traditional 5 sugared almonds then use an uneven number as this cannot be divided!
